Introducing the Middle Atlantic Series Protection Modular Power Raceway (MPR) Module—the pinnacle of protection, performance, and scalability for professional AV power distribution. Engineered for fast-acting, non-degrading surge protection across an entire MPR raceway, these modules deliver precise control and reliable protection for mission-critical equipment in control rooms, studios, classrooms, and live production environments. The 20A, controlled design pairs with Middle Atlantic’s configurable vertical power strip system to create a modular, expandable power protection solution that grows with your studio or facility while preserving aesthetics, management, and safety. Whether you’re outfitting a single rack or an entire facility, these MPR Modules provide unmatched protection that minimizes downtime and protects expensive electronics from damaging transients.

  • 20 Amp capacity with controlled protection: This module is engineered to handle demanding AV loads—think 20A circuits powering receivers, processors, high-power displays, and other essential gear—while distributing clean, protected power across the MPR raceway. The result is consistent performance and reduced risk of nuisance outages when power anomalies occur, keeping critical systems online during busy production cycles and daily operation alike.
  • Series Surge Protection: Leveraging Series Protection™ technology, surges are interrupted at the source for a faster response and tighter clamping. This approach minimizes voltage transients before they can propagate to connected equipment, preserving signal integrity and safeguarding sensitive circuitry. By acting at the point of origin, Series Surge Protection reduces wear on electronics and helps extend the life of connected devices.
  • Modular, configurable MPR raceway integration: Designed to slot neatly into Middle Atlantic’s configurable vertical power strip system, the MPR Module offers a scalable path to expand and reconfigure power distribution as your setup evolves. It’s purpose-built for easy integration with other MPR modules, adapters, and accessories, enabling you to tailor a clean, unified power management solution that matches your rack depth, number of outlets, and spacing requirements.
  • Non-degrading protection for all modules: The protection performance remains consistent over time, even as you add, rearrange, or expand modules within the MPR raceway. This ensures long-term reliability without the need for frequent re-calibration or replacement of protection components, giving you peace of mind that your surge protection won’t weaken with each surge event.
  • Reliability and professional-grade build: Built for the rigors of professional AV environments, the MPR Module combines rugged construction with thoughtful heat management and serviceability. Expect durable materials, solid electrical connections, and a design that facilitates maintenance in busy studios, control rooms, or educational facilities, while maintaining a neat, organized appearance on your rack.

how to install Middle Atlantic MPR Module, 20A, Controlled, Series Surge

Installing the MPR Module within your existing Middle Atlantic MPR rack system is designed to be straightforward and scalable. Begin by ensuring the power to the rack is shut off and that you have clear access to the vertical power raceway slot where the module will reside. Confirm that you have a compatible MPR configuration and the required mounting hardware for your specific rack model. Align the module with the MPR slot and slide it into place, making sure that connectors engage securely and that any locking mechanisms are engaged to prevent accidental dislodgement during operation. Once seated, connect the module to the adjacent MPR modules or power modules as specified by your system design, ensuring proper line-up and grounding continuity. After mounting, connect the power input to a suitable 20A circuit, verify that the status indicators reflect proper operation, and perform a brief functional test by powering on critical equipment to confirm that surge protection is active and that there are no abnormal power fluctuations. Finally, label the module for easy identification and document its position within your rack for future maintenance or expansion. If you plan to expand the MPR system later, you can add additional MPR Modules to the same raceway, preserving a clean, organized power distribution layout while maintaining consistent surge protection across all connected devices.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is Series Protection and why is it important?

Series Protection interrupts surge events at the source, rather than letting them propagate through the power chain. This provides faster response, better protection for connected devices, and helps preserve the integrity of sensitive AV equipment and control systems.

  • Is the MPR Module compatible with existing Middle Atlantic MPR components?

Yes. The MPR Module is designed to integrate with the modular MPR raceway system, allowing you to expand, reconfigure, and upgrade your power distribution without replacing existing rack infrastructure.

  • Does this module protect all modules within the MPR raceway?

Yes. The Series Surge Protection is designed to provide non-degrading protection across all modules installed within the MPR raceway, ensuring consistent surge mitigation for multiple devices and outlets.

  • What environments is the MPR Module suited for?

It’s geared toward professional AV environments such as broadcast studios, control rooms, conference spaces, classrooms, and post-production facilities where reliable power management and surge protection are essential.

  • How can I tell if protection is active?

Protection status indicators on the module provide real-time feedback. When protection is active, indicators typically remain lit or show a specific status as described in the product manual. If protection is compromised, refer to maintenance guidelines or contact support for service.

  • What about maintenance and future expansion?

The modular design supports straightforward expansion. You can add additional MPR Modules as your needs grow, with the same high level of surge protection and system integrity across the entire raceway.

Not a Users Guide
Format: Paperback
Although many readers may find this book useful, it describes a particular approach to Powerpoint. It is not anything like a comprehensive users guide.

Just linear
Format: Paperback
I appreciate that it helps to organize the chaos of information, but I just used the template verbatim with my manager and it did not go very well. He said this linear approach does not work anymore with high-level corporate audiences. They want to cut right to the chase and start to dig into the deep details. This layout with simple images, even if you just pull away the map and anchor slides, makes the storytelling too much like a story, not giving enough credit to the speed at which certain audiences can and do process data on a slide. It was an interesting exercise and I still think this linear layout works in some cases. Just not if you are trying to communicate business case or other C-suite type of information.
