The Spyderco Civilian is an incredibly specialized fighting tool. This is NOT an EDC knife, utility knife, user, etc. It is a purpose built discreet carry tool. The origin of this tool comes from the requests of undercover law enforcement officers. These officers, while undercover, were not able to carry a firearm, but could easily carry a concealable folding knife. With varying levels of hand-to-hand combat training, the knife these personnel carried needed to be used effectively without the need for specialized training. This laundry list of requirements lead to the design of the Civilian and Matriarch models from Spyderco.

Both of these models feature and aggressively shaped "Reverse S" blade, with a full length of Spyderco's triple-point serrations. This design is ideal for slashing-style cuts with limited training, and imparts dramatic effects. The slim, G10 handles and strong stainless steel back lock helps to make this knife easy and discreet to carry, but incredibly solid during use. With grippy, textured G10, the handle is careful contoured to aid in the intended use and ensure effective retention in-hand.
