CELOX™ is a high performance chitosan-derived hemostatic designed to stop lethal bleeding fast. It is easy to use, extremely effective (clots blood in 30 seconds), and safe (is a CE Marked Class III Medical Device). CELOX is available in four different delivery systems, providing a commitment to aiding the caregiver in treating a variety of difficult and deep wounds. It also does not generate heat and will not burn the casualty or care giver. CELOX works independently of the body's normal clotting processes and has been proven to work in hypothermic conditions and in the presence of common anticoagulants such as Coumadin and Heparin.

CELOX Trauma Gauze is a dual purpose hemostatic gauze used to effectively control traumatic bleeding and to help cool and protect 1st and 2nd degree burns. CELOX Trauma Gauze is composed entirely of CELOX's chitosan chemistry; it is not impregnated or coated. This product uses a proprietary manufacturing process to create a soft, compliant and hemostatic gauze that is similar in feel and presentation to standard cotton gauze. The gauze dressing is comprised of nonwoven chitosan fibers. The dual indications to control traumatic bleeding and to cool and protect against burns can potentially replace multiple products with one, freeing up valuable space in the battlefield medic's Improved First Aid Kit (IFAK).

HOW CELOX WORKS
As a hemostatic, chitosan-based CELOX controls bleeding by reacting with red blood cells to form a robust clot with effective clotting in about thirty seconds. As a burn dressing, this product cools and protects 1st and 2nd degree burns through its ability to transform into a gel-like material once saturated with water or a saline solution. One dressing can absorb as much as 430 ml of water or 176 ml of blood. The product is intuitive, easy to use, and safe for the patient.

CHITOSAN
CELOX is made of chitosan, a compound derived from shrimp shells. Chitosan has proven antimicrobial properties and is not a procoagulant. Chitosan is broken down and absorbed through normal metabolic pathways and has an extensive history of use in vascular closure and in human cardiac surgery. CELOX has a three year history of use in emergency, military, and retail first aid with no reported incidents.
