This is a late war bayonet. It is totally matched and dated 1944. This has the ribbed bakelite handles which are in fine shape, The bluing on the hilt and crossguard is 98% intact. The scabbard has lost its original finish, and the steel has a coating of light rust on it. We have made no attempt to clean it up. The blade retains the majority of its bluing,

German WWII 98K Combat Bayonet with Matching Numbers by Hörster-This is a totally matched set. This is a late war bayonet. It is totally matched and dated 1944. This has the ribbed bakelite handles which are in fine shape, The bluing on the hilt and crossguard is 98% intact. The scabbard has lost its original finish, and the steel has a coating of light rust on it. We have made no attempt to clean it up. The blade retains the majority of its bluing, and has the mark 44 asw under the crossguard, which is the date (44) and the nomenclature for Hörster. This bayonet has waffenamts all over the place! The bluing on the blade is good and is approx. 65% in place. The obverse shows the serial number 9792 under the crossguard, which can also be seen on the scabbard’s throat. This comes complete with a high-quality black leather frog that is also in very good condition and has a faded maker mark on the reverse.
