What is Sweet Almond Oil?

Sweet almond oil is pressed from the sweet almond (Prunus amygdalus dulcis), the edible almond that we also know in the kitchen. The almond tree originates from the western part of Central Asia and was spread throughout the Mediterranean by the Romans via Egypt and Greece. The skin-supporting properties were already known at that time.

Important to know: the sweet variant is always needed for cosmetic use. Bitter almond oil naturally contains amygdalin, a substance that can be converted to cyanide in the body. Our oil is made from only sweet almonds and is completely safe to use.

How is Sweet Almond Oil made?

The almonds are harvested from the almond tree, peeled and cold-pressed. With cold-pressed oil, no heat above 30 degrees is used during pressing, so that the natural vitamins, fatty acids and the light almond aroma are preserved. Then the oil is filtered and ready for use.

Why is Sweet Almond Oil so special?

Sweet almond oil has a mild, nourishing character that makes it one of the most versatile base oils. The oil consists of about 62 to 86% oleic acid (omega 9) and 20 to 30% linoleic acid (omega 6). In addition, it naturally contains alpha-tocopherol, the active form of vitamin E. This composition makes sweet almond oil suitable for almost every skin type, and especially nice for dry or sensitive skin.

Benefits of Sweet Almond Oil for your skin

Nourishes and softens
Due to the high oleic acid content, the skin feels soft, supple and hydrated after use. A real solution for dry skin.

Gentle on sensitive skin
Sweet almond oil is known for its gentle character and is often used for sensitive skin, as long as there is no nut allergy at play.

Great as a make-up remover
Due to its mildness, the oil is suitable for removing make-up around the eyes, including waterproof variants.

Benefits of Sweet Almond Oil for your hair

Gives shine and softness
Sweet almond oil softens dry and dull hair and gives a natural shine.

Cares for the scalp
The mild, nourishing effect is also nice for a dry or itchy scalp.

How to use Sweet Almond Oil?

For the body, apply a thin layer of oil to still damp skin after showering. For your face, massage a few drops into cleansed skin. For makeup removal, apply some oil to a cotton pad and wipe gently. For your hair, massage a little oil into damp hair, leave it on for 15 minutes and wash it out with your regular shampoo. The oil is also wonderful as a base for a massage, possibly with some drops of essential oil.

Tips for using Sweet Almond Oil

  • For baby skin, it is better not to use it pure. The skin of newborns and young babies is still immature, and large amounts of oleic acid can unbalance the skin barrier and worsen dryness or eczema. Do you still want to use sweet almond oil for baby's skin? Then mix the oil with a linoleic acid-rich oil such as safflower oil or grapeseed oil, so that the fatty acids are better proportioned.
  • Do you have a nut allergy? Then be careful and test on a small area of skin first.
  • Our cold-pressed sweet almond oil has a very mild scent. The organic variant has the typical, slightly stronger almond scent.
  • From 1 liter, the oil is delivered in a plastic jerry can.

EKGs are difficult and I still don’t understand
Format: Paperback
Hey I’m in nursing school and I bought this… it’s not the pocket size, it’s actually a full size book. It brought tears to my eyes many times. I have no idea what a 3rd degree block is. Hopefully you can learn and be a good nurse! EKGs are for the doctors to read. So don’t be too hard on yourself. But you should probably know what normal sinus rhythm looks like… 👍🏼

My teacher thinks some of the ekgs are wrong
Format: Paperback
Can anyone put me in contact with the author of this book? My ekg/cardiology teacher is slandering her name and saying some of the rhythms she has in this book are wrong. Really upsets me because he is only a nurse and teaching a pre paramedic course. Doctors and cardiologist were the ones who cited this book. The rhythms are correct, my teacher just wants to think he is smarter than everyone else when it comes to cardiology. Otherwise I love this book and very helpful.

Excellent Book
Format: Paperback
As a nurse I struggle sometimes with rhythm recognition for some of the more complicated ones. This book is easy to read with many practice strips to help you comprehend even the complex details. Would highly recommend to anyone who needs to learn EKGs or brush up on their rhythm recognition skills. Great book!
