The drip glaze has been used to create this attractive flowing pattern, by layering the different colours to create depth and complexity in the glaze. The "Newtone" brand name was used from the 1930s and continued till the late 1940s, during this time a large range of decorative vases was produced in a great variety of shapes and colour. The "Newtone" brand name was used from the 1930s and continued till the late 1940s, during this time a large range of decorative vases was produced in a great variety of shapes and colour. Newtone Art Ware was a brand name used by The Bakewell Pottery, who operated in Sydney from 1884 to 1955.
This lovely collectable piece could also be used to store Artist's brushes or pencils. The quality of the brand is testament to pieces which are still treasured by collectors to this day.
