DESCRIPTION
The increasing global prevalence of heart failure (HF) has a significant impact on morbidity, mortality, healthcare costs and utilization, physical function and quality of life. Since 2023, a team of members from the Academy of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy has been updating and revising the 2020 heart failure clinical practice guideline (HF CPG) for physical therapists. This webinar will present new research findings and insights since the original 2020 CPG, especially as they relate to the effects of high-intensity interval training, inspiratory muscle training, strength training, telerehabilitation and app-based disease management on various rehabilitation outcomes. We will also highlight recent evidence regarding the management of patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Finally, we hope to inspire clinicians to think beyond routine treatment and incorporate innovative strategies in the holistic management of patients with this complex medical condition.
